Thoughts about this build…
This build was a very exciting one for me: I had purchased a gorgeous figured and grafted Claro walnut slab and I knew I had to make something special out of it. Why not fuse two pigment colors together in the middle of the river? So that’s exactly what I did.
I tinted the river to tone it down so that the colors would not be too bright, thereby giving the table a more earthy look. This would also not take too much away from the gorgeous wood, which was the star of this piece.
The oil really brought out the grain on that Claro walnut, as well as the color of the river, and I decided to pair the top with V-shaped legs for a modern, suspended look.
It draws a lot of praise and excitement by passers by and is definitely one to come and look at!
