Thoughts on this build…

This piece was commissioned by a customer in Charlotte NC. He loved the look of the “duck-pond” end-table (see earlier table) and wanted a dining table with the same look.

I used two gorgeous ambrosia, spalted, burly maple slabs that were locally sourced and designed the table such that the river ran slightly offset to the table’s center line: this allowed me to open up two pockets of epoxy on one side of the table, while also adding some asymmetry in the river for a more unique look.

The customer also requested islands, if possible, and I obliged, creating two islands from pieces of the same slab, one on either end of the table.

The river was a turbulent, tinted gold river, which popped beautifully when illuminated by the sun entering the large floor-to-ceiling windows and accentuated by overhead dining light.

I paired this table with modern, slightly inclined V-shaped legs to fit the style of the high-rise condo.

The customer loved it so much he commissioned a similarly style coffee table (see next table).
