Claro walnut, which is sourced from the West Coast, is very different to the local walnut: “claro” refers to the clear streaks on a backdrop of a darker wood grain, giving this wood it’s distinctive contrast. It is also significantly more valuable than the local walnut we have in NC.

This customer wanted a wider coffee table of around 32”, combined with a translucent blue river. I paired this with V-shaped legs to provide the illusion that the table top was even wider than it was, while also giving it a more unique look.

As the wood was finished, some figuring in the walnut wood became apparent, which added to the beauty of the piece.
