Thoughts about this build…

This was a local walnut slab that was fairly simple in color and figure, but had a nice crotch section as well as some cracks and crevices - I thought it would be a great piece to add some hand made bowties to add both character and functionality, as well as run a transparent river down the middle. Rather than the usual black-powder coated legs, I opted for bare aluminum legs to make them a feature of the table and add to its curb appeal.

Local Walnut is a nice wood but it lacks some of the contrast, figure and interesting grain that the more exotic Claro and Bastogne walnut slab boast.
